 Bijou is a one-year-old French Bulldog who came to Forever Friends from a high-kill shelter outside San Diego. She arrived pregnant and sadly lost her babies before rescue. After her recent spay, she’s taking a little time to settle in and decompress. She was slow to eat at first, but once comfortable, happily enjoyed canned food and continues to relax more each day.

Her name, Bijou, means “little jewel” in French — and it fits her perfectly. She is sweet, gentle, and enjoys being close to her people. As she continues to gain confidence, we’ll be learning more about the home that will suit her best.

Bijou began showing signs of what appeared to be a systemic infection, and thankfully I was able to have her seen last minute at Santa Luz Veterinary Clinic. She was diagnosed with both a sinus and ear infection.

While being treated, Bijou suddenly began hemorrhaging a very large amount of occult blood. Emergency surgery was required. During surgery, it was discovered that her recent spay procedure had not been adequately sutured. It was incredibly fortunate that she was already at the veterinary clinic at that critical moment — her gums had begun turning pale, and the situation could have ended very differently.

Thanks to the quick action, skill, and compassion of the veterinary team, Bijou made it through surgery and is now recovering with lots of extra TLC and careful monitoring. I cannot thank the doctors and staff enough for saving her life. It is a Valentine’s gift I will never forget.

We are not out of the woods yet. The next three weeks will be an important healing period, and we are hopeful that she continues to improve. Please keep Bijou in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers.

Through all of this, Bijou has remained incredibly loving, cuddly, and gentle. Her sweet spirit has never wavered. When she is fully healed, she will make a beautiful addition to someone's family.

Beau is a 2-year-old Frenchie boy with the sweetest eyes and the gentlest soul.

Like so many of our rescue dogs, Beau came from a high-kill shelter, and his condition was heartbreaking. He was severely emaciated—skin and bones—and unable to eat. 💔

But Beau is a fighter.

With love, patience, and proper care, he is now eating well, gaining weight, and growing stronger every day. Watching his transformation has been nothing short of incredible.

And behind that fragile beginning… is the most beautiful personality.

Gigi is the total package—adorable, incredibly well-trained, and full of playful, joyful energy. She’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily and impress everyone she meets.

This sweet girl has proudly graduated Level 1 and Level 2 obedience training, and it shows. She’s attentive, eager to please, and truly loves being part of a family.

🎓 Gigi’s Skills Include:

   •    “Look at me” (excellent focus!)

   •    OFF (no jumping on people or furniture)

   •    Sit, down, stand, and spin

   •    Stay—with impressive reliability, even around distractions (parks, stores like Home Depot, and at home)

   •    Come on a long line

   •    Emergency recall using a whistle or squeaker toy

🏡 Home Life:

   •    Crate trained (loves her cozy kennel)

   •    Potty trained and understands “go potty outside”

   •    Sleeps through the night (up to 8 hours)

   •    Can comfortably hold it 3–4 hours during the day

💛 Personality:

Gigi is playful, funny, and full of life. She brings joy wherever she goes and loves to be part of the action. She’s wonderful with children and dogs of all sizes, making her an easy, happy addition to a loving home.
