About Forever Friends

Rescue. Heal. Love. Repeat.

Forever Friends is a small, independent dog rescue based in Rancho Santa Fe, California, with a simple mission: help dogs who need a second chance find the safe, loving homes they deserve.

We focus on dogs in Southern California who are at risk in high-kill shelters, particularly those who may be overlooked, abandoned, neglected, or in need of medical or behavioral support.

Our goal isn't to rescue as many dogs as possible just for the sake of numbers. Our goal is to give each dog the individual care, patience, medical attention, training, and love they need to become ready for their forever family.

MEet Nancy

The person behind Forever Friends

Forever Friends began with something that has been part of Nancy's life for as long as she can remember: a love for dogs and a belief that every dog deserves a chance.

Nancy has personally cared for and rescued dogs for many years. Throughout her life, she has seen firsthand how many wonderful dogs end up in shelters simply because they were abandoned, surrendered, overlooked, or didn't have someone willing to advocate for them.

Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, Nancy decided to create her own way to help. Today, she continues that mission through Forever Friends, working to identify dogs in need, help bring them out of high-risk shelter situations, provide them with the care they need, and ultimately connect them with loving families.

She also believes strongly in education. Rescue isn't only about finding a home for one dog. It's about helping people understand the importance of adoption, responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and giving shelter dogs the opportunity they deserve. Forever Friends is the result of that lifelong passion.

Frequently Asked Questions

We believe that a shelter history does not define a dog's future.

Our mission is to:

Rescue dogs in need.

Give them the care and support they deserve.

Learn who they are and what they need.

Find families who are the right fit.

Give every adoption the opportunity to become a true forever home.

One question we occasionally receive is why Forever Friends does not have a traditional shelter address.

The answer is simple: we don't currently operate a public shelter facility.

Forever Friends is a small, home-based rescue, and dogs may be cared for in private homes and foster environments rather than in a publicly accessible shelter.

For the safety and privacy of our families, volunteers, fosters, and animals, we do not publish private residential addresses.

Meet-and-greets and adoption arrangements are coordinated directly with approved applicants.

Our organization information is available publicly, including our EIN:

We believe transparency matters, especially when people are considering adopting a dog or making a donation. If you have questions about Forever Friends, our rescue process, or how donations are used, we welcome you to reach out.

As a small rescue, Forever Friends relies heavily on individual support.

Rescue dogs can require much more than simply a safe place to sleep. Depending on the dog, their needs may include:

  • Veterinary examinations
  • Vaccinations
  • Spay and neuter procedures
  • Emergency medical treatment
  • Medications
  • Food and supplies
  • Grooming
  • Training and behavioral support
  • Transportation
  • Foster care
  • Enrichment and daily care

At this stage, much of the financial support that keeps Forever Friends operating comes directly from Nancy and her husband.

That is why donations and foster families are so important to our ability to continue rescuing dogs.

Every contribution helps us say "yes" to another dog who needs help.

There are many ways to become part of Forever Friends.
